Barry Somes is a distinguished native of Maine, with deep routes in the state’s history. As a descendent of the founder of the village of Somesville which abuts Acadia National Park, and Abigail Somes who was accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials (and acquitted), he carries a legacy of resilience and fortitude.
He is a member of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance and is a participant every year in the Maine Crime Writers Conference. His commitment to his community is evident from his years volunteering for his town’s Emergency Medical Services as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician. Additionally, he is a graduate of the COPS program (Citizens Only Police School). Barry is an alumnus of the University of Maine and has earned an advanced degree in Holistic Theology, reflecting his holistic approach to life.
His grandfather was a storyteller and popular after dinner speaker, no doubt where Barry gets his talent. As the proprietor of the Paperback Writer Company, Barry contributes to the literary world while celebrating and preserving the rich heritage of Maine.
